Yesterday at around 2:00 I got a phone call from the school nurse that Jared was out at recess and fell at the park on his face. My initial thought was that they were over reacting. They asked me to come and see for myself and decide what to do next. Upon my arrival he began to sob big ol' tears. I signed him out and brought him home. He was running up the stairs to the slide and munched it hard. The impact pushed back his top right tooth back enough for me to notice immediately. The inside of his mouth is bruised and all cut up from the surface of the playground equipment.
These pictures were taken after some Tylenol and around 3:30. By bed time his entire lip was swollen up to his nose. Luckily Barry had an old picture of his dad Fred when he got stung by a bee and his bottom lip swelled. It made Jared feel better to see that.
Barry gave Jared a blessing last night and also this morning when I took him to the dentist. The dentist took x-rays and nothing is fractured, thank goodness, but he did think that three of his teeth will need to be pulled just to assure that his bite won't be messed up in the future. We need to call the pediatric dentist Monday to see if we can get in to sedate him and pull them.
He is feeling much better today and is ancy to go outside and play with his friends. The swelling has gone down a bit but still looks like a mess in there. Hopefully in a few days he'll be back to new.
