Today was Briley and Sienna's 2 month check up. The girls are doing great. The doctor was so impressed with them being that they were born at 34 weeks. They are progressing well and gaining weight like their on a steady diet of heavy cream, to which I've been coined "the Dairy Queen" by Barry's family. Sienna is now 8 lbs 6 oz (10%) 18 3/4" long (<3%) and Briley is 7 lbs 11 oz. (2%) 19" (<3%). The doctor put them on their tummies to see how they do and was shocked that Briley is beginning to push off and thinks that she'll be rolling over very soon.
They received shots today also and have been utterly exhausted all day and their little legs are quite tender from the injection.
On Jan 31st Barry's basketball team participated in a fundraiser for MDA. As some of you may know our nephew was diagnosed with Duchenne's MD and it's opened our eyes and feel that we should do more. The team along with a girl at Barry's school, whose brother also has Duchenne's, had T-shirts made up and sold them for 2 weeks before the game and 1 week after. They invited the little boy to be an honorary team captain and gave him a jersey and basketball signed by the team. Then this past Saturday was the Stride and Ride for MDA to which we attended with the basketball team and many other students from AAHS. We took our limo stroller out for it's maiden voyage but felt somewhat amiss that we didn't have the celebratory bottle of champagne to bust open on it. The kids had a great time walking the mall and it was a fun way to spend our Saturday morning. We felt that we were making a difference and did something important. I hope to be able to participate in more things of the nature in the future.
