Sunday night I was going over my week plans with Shannon as we get set for PT Conferences, Football, and Basketball all in the same week. My friend Dave called and told me that Jody had died on Saturday morning early. I was stunned and speechless. It did not really hit me until today when Shannon was booking my flight. All night and toady I was thinking about how I was so lucky to know Jody and count him as one of my closest friends. I can remember when Dave told me he found a roommate to fill one of our rooms in 210. From day one Jody was a friend, it was one of his special gifts, he could make any stranger feel like his closest friend. He was quick to smile, he was by far the most popular person at OSU. He had a nickname, chocolate toothpick in honor of his dreadlocks. He was a jack of all sports, he loved basketball, thanks to him and the rest of 210, I got into basketball. I still had his number in football though. We loved to compete against each other and loved to go get a coke afterward. Jody had friends in abundance. I have many fond memories with him and 210, most I cannot share in public, needless to say all were hilarious beyond belief.
Jody would not want people to be sad about his passing but would want to have us all get together and honor his life the way he lived it, always with a smile, laugh and love. He left a great mark on me and I am better for it. Jody may be gone, but his memory and legacy will go on forever. Jody I love you and will miss your phone calls on Fathers' day and my birthday.
