Expired

When the twins were in the NICU I had to rent a breast pump and take my milk into the nurses for them to feed them since they had NG tubes. Upon discharge they sent me home with all my milk plus I had some already at home that I froze. I haven't wanted to throw it away, just in case so I've been saving it. Well, it finally expired and I was somewhat sad to see it all go down the drain. I kept thinking of all the starving babies around the world and the mom's who would give anything for good healthy milk for their growing baby. As I threw it all away I thought that it would be interesting to see how much milk it actually was and it came out to roughly 300 oz. of milk and that's all within the first 10 days, taking away what the nurses fed them throughout those days. Can you say "MOO!"? It equates to almost 3 gallons of milk! Whoa! I'm sad to see it gone but at least I have room in the freezer for my side of beef that is getting cut this week. YUM!

Goals

Directly above the built-in entertainment center I have this huge space that was void of anything and I felt it was too high to put a picture and just couldn't decide on the right thing for it. My friend Carri had a great idea to come up with some words that described our family or could be goals. Here are the words that we came up with. We came up with many more but narrowed them down to these 7. I think it turned out great and I love it!

The heebie geebies

I hate, no wait I loathe those stupid Miller Moths. They are nasty, creepy, vile, and they give me the heebie geebies. Every freaking time I open the door to the garage one succeeds to fly into my insect free zone. AAAAHHHHH!! I wish they would all die. There's something about the beautiful the sound of a moth flying into a zapper light that pleases me. Dang I wish I had one of those zapper lights just so I could revel in the fact that yet another stupid moth flew to the flame.

I once spent a night in a camp trailer...on my anniversary night, with my in laws and Barry's aunt and uncle and the lovely company of about a million miller moths. They were everywhere in that camper. We busted out some good 'ol Tommy Boy combat skills and sucked those babies up with a vacuum and still managed to have them crawl up our legs throughout the night.

It's late and I'm tired and by the way...I hate moths!!!

An inconvenient truth

I've recently been mulling over our upcoming travel plans at the end of the month to Canada and realized that we are now a not-so-convenient house guest anymore. We are now a family of 7, in case you couldn't count and we can't just drop in anymore, we actually have to plan ahead and have to seek out adequate lodging. It's also quite different planning when there are twins involved that are eating food now and need to sit up to do so. They are portable yes but they also come with their own "set" of baggage. Our van that was once roomy is losing it's spacious feel quickly. Luckily I was able to find a steal of a deal on a rooftop cargo box and ordered it today so that should help the packing issue. I may not be reduced to packing only one pair of jeans like previous years.

I need to start making lists of necessary items to pack. Once that cargo box gets here I'll have a better idea of what fits too. Should be interesting.

Up Do

Liza's hair is getting long enough and finally starting to fill in so that I can do super cute hair do's. Yesterday I put her hair in buns and when I took it out it was all curly. We like to call her "Liza the Lion" when we undo her hair. I love it!!!!

Food!

The newest milestone for the twins is food. We started cereal a couple of weeks ago and the first go wasn't much of a hit but they've warmed up to it since then. They also had their 6 month check up and the doctor continues to be impressed by their progress. Sienna is 12 lbs 1 oz and 22 1/4" putting her in the 25% on the preemie scale. Briley is 11 lbs 6.5 oz and 22" putting her in the 20-25% on the preemie scale also. They received shots and have been very sleepy and grouchy.

Today we introduced bananas to which Briley was digging but Sienna didn't care much for them. I've set up the high chairs and I'll be trying some graham crackers for them to destroy soon. It's a fun stage.

An outing

My mom came to visit this past weekend and we had a great time. We went swimming, to the park, shopping and ate out which happens to be a real treat for us these days!!! On our outing to the park we didn't want to take separate vehicles so how do you cram 8 people in a 7 passenger van? Make the biggest one squeeze between the captain's chairs! Our van truly was a clown car that day!

Thanks mom! We had a great time with you. See you in a month.

Payton turns the big 5!

Yesterday Payton turned 5. He had a great day playing with a friend all afternoon. He was though disappointed that he had to wait till Barry got home to open presents but I think it was worth the wait for him. He got clothes, a nerf gun, Bakugans and swim goggles. I made an ice cream cake and decorated it in the morning.
We are so grateful for Payton. He makes us laugh and is a great kid. Happy Birthday P-town Walla Walla Bean Town!

Holy freaking crap!

Four letter words almost spilled from my mouth last night as this little beauty was discovered within inches of where I was sitting. All night I had nightmares and felt creepy crawly. I loath spiders!!! First thing this morning I called an exterminator and had all Black Widows put to death, along with any other creeping thing. I will be so happy if I never have to see another one of these as long as I live!

Liza is 2

Sunday Liza turned 2 years old. We had a great day. Upon waking Liza opened presents and loved everything and then she was so excited about her Elmo cake that when I asked what she wanted for breakfast she said, "Eat Elmo." We played after cake and then we were all able to have a nap all before church.

Liza is talking so much more and putting more and more words together. Her favorite thing to say is, "Daddy home." It's very exciting around here when we here the garage door open. She is such a fun girl. We love here so much and are so blessed to have her in our family.
